Hi there! This page was created by me, Alicia Roskind Dearing. I just love learning about everything really, but lately I’ve found myself called to learn about herbalism and plants. Herbalism to me is the beginning of a conversation and relationship with plants. There are so many ways you can begin this important conversation, but because it’s winter, herbs feel like the coziest jumping off point that will lead to a lifelong relationship of growing, healing, and playing. You have to start somewhere and this is me starting.

I’m excited to see where it takes us!  If you have found yourself here, then maybe you too are interested in learning more about herbalism. I have decided to endeavor on a 6-units, self-guided course by The Herbal Academy called Introductory Herbal Course. I have looked at a number of amazing herbalism courses that all look amazing and magical, but this one felt like the most comprehensive program at a reasonable price, pace and extensive materials.

This is a chance to get your feet wet and learn at your own pace while sharing the experience with a virtual community of others interested in herbalism. We will each do the course at our own pace, and we will meet every other week virtually, although if you are in NC, I’m down to meet in person as well, to discuss what we are learning and discovering and share in our experiences. We all have something to offer by just being ourselves. 

This is my first time doing this, so we truly are all in this together. If we get into it and every other week is too much, we can change to every 3rd week or maybe some want to meet every week. Who knows! This truly is a learning process and I’m excited to be part of this with you! 

I’m excited to embark on this journey to engage with plants in a new and remembered way. To me, diving into an herbalism course is starting a new relationship with plants and the Earth, and I am creating this space so that we can share that relationship with others and learn from each other and the plants.

If you have a bit more to spend, I’m excited about the Herbalist Starter Kit as well, but the Starter Kit is not necessary to begin this course and beautiful relationship with plants and yourself. I'm also asking for a small donation of $5 to cover the expense of paid Zoom account and administrative tasks. The meeting times will rotate between days to try to accommodate everyone’s schedules. I will be sending out a survey to assess which days and times work best for most.
